(Huntington, WV) Cabell-Huntington Health Department Prevention Coordinator Casey Napier was recently selected to participate in the American Diabetes Association® (ADA) national Master Trainer program. The Master Trainer programs cover three health areas—obesity, eye health, and immunizations—and offer specialized training for the selected organizations to take back to their respective communities. CabellHuntington Health Department was one of 10 organizations chosen for the obesity program, and Napier is now certified as an Obesity Master Trainer.
“We are incredibly proud of Casey’s selection to the American Diabetes Association’s Master Trainer program, said Dr. Michael Kilkenny, Cabell-Huntington Health Department CEO and Health Officer. This recognition not only highlights her dedication to prevention work, but it also strengthens our ability to improve health outcomes right here in Cabell County. By bringing this high-level obesity training back to our community, Casey will help us expand evidence-based interventions, support healthier lifestyles, and continue our mission of reducing chronic disease for the people we serve.”
The Obesity Master Trainer program, an outreach of the Obesity Association, a division of the ADA, focuses on obesity as a chronic disease, addressing stigma, roadblocks to care, and evidence-based strategies for prevention and management.
Napier joined the Cabell-Huntington Health Department in February 2014. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and a Master of Arts degree in Health Promotion.
Cabell-Huntington Health Department plans to begin offering obesity education to community groups early in 2026.
