Cabell-Huntington Health Department Employees Celebrate “Christmas in July” with Toy Drive for The Salvation Army
Community Invited to Participate on July 16
HUNTINGTON, WV – The spirit of giving is alive and well this summer at the Cabell-Huntington Health Department (CHHD). In celebration of Christmas in July, CHHD employees are collecting new, unwrapped toys to support The Salvation Army’s annual holiday toy drive — and they’re inviting the community to join in.
Cabell-Huntington Health Department staff will gather new, unwrapped toys through July 15, and community members are encouraged to participate by dropping off toys at the health department’s office, located at 703 7th Avenue, on Wednesday, July 16, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
“This is a wonderful way for our staff and community to work together to brighten the holidays for local children in need,” said Dr. Michael Kilkenny, CEO and Health Officer for CHHD. “Every toy collected this July helps The Salvation Army meet the growing need during the holiday season.”
The Salvation Army welcomes this early support as it prepares for its busiest time of year. “Need knows no season,” said Jaclyn Johnson, Corps Administrator for The Salvation Army of Huntington. “While most people think about giving during the holidays, the need in our community is present all year long. The toys collected through this drive will help ensure that every child can experience the joy of Christmas morning, and we are grateful for the generosity of the Cabell-Huntington Health Department and our neighbors.”
All donations will go directly to The Salvation Army’s holiday distribution program. Suggested donations include dolls, action figures, building sets, board games, puzzles, sports equipment, and arts and crafts supplies. For more information about the toy collection, please contact the Cabell-Huntington Health Department at (304) 523-6483 or visit www.cabellhealth.org.
