Cabell-Huntington Health Department Partners With Cabell County Board of Education to Provide Back to School Immunizations

The Cabell-Huntington Health Department is partnering with Cabell County Schools to host several back to school immunization clinics to prepare children and adolescents for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year. This year the events will occur on various days and locations, drive-thru style. Though drive-thru is encouraged, walk-ups will also be provided. If there is rain on the day of the event, the event will be canceled. The dates and locations are as follows:

  • July 15th – Central City Elementary School
  • July 22nd – Huntington East Middle School
  • July 29th – Barboursville Middle School
  • August 5th – Milton Elementary School

*All events will take place from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Children and adolescents are encouraged to attend the event and receive immunizations to protect them. Several vaccines are required to enter pre-school or head start. Also, remember the school entry immunization requirements for 7th and 12th graders. Seventh graders must have Tdap (1 dose) and Meningococcal (1st dose), while 12th graders must have Tdap (1 dose) and Meningococcal (2nd dose if first was received before 16th birthday).

It is highly recommended for parents/guardians to bring their child’s shot record and if the child has insurance please bring their card.

Please visit the health department’s website at www.cabellhealth.org or visit www.cdc.gov to learn more about vaccinations. All questions about the event please contact Keith Thomas, Coordinator of Student Support (304) 528-5207.

If you or someone in your home has had contact within the last fourteen days with any person under screening/testing for COVID-19, or with anyone with known or suspected COVID-19 please vaccinate at another time.
